There are no pictures of me today - We don't have anything Emerald Green that we can use to play TRUE COLORS with Blue - but we have Livy in her green outfit and her funky new green hightops - putting her I=pod in the new deck mom put in the bath room - Here you can see her setting it up and finally dancing...

TRUE COLOURS - Cobalt Blue

Today's TRUE COLOUR is Cobalt Blue -  this was a snap for mom -  you see, she grew up in the Mississippi Delta on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi where the world famous Pup and Lee McCarty are from [friends of her mom's] - Pup and Lee create the most wonderful pottery pieces and mom has dozens of them - after all, every gal from the Delta knows how to entertain with style and grace.   We've taken pictures of a few pieces -  it would take her a week to photograph them all -  belive me when I tell you she has tons.    Most people buy it in the green or brown - but Mom has always loved the Cobalt so that's what most of her pieces are.   She has everything from a sugar bowl to huge serving platters.   She drinks Sweet Iced Tea from McCarty Tumblers, cocktails are from McCarty "highballs" -  she serves from McCarty Platters and Bowls - well, you get the picture - McCarty is very big in our house.   I even have my own McCarty Bowl!

The black mark you see is the McCarty signature  of the River running through  [that would be the Mississippi River :-) ]   Check out  Pup and Lee'ss site to get a feel of the Delta - where roots run deep, and history and culture have intertwined to create a place unique to the world.

What a surprise I had when we got back to Oak Ridge and mom went to the P.O.   -  

There was a Paw It Forward package from Gennasus 

All the way from across the pond in England....I was a little tired from the Nashville trip and the partying with Pink Baby.....but, with a little help from mommy I opened my package and found a terrific little toy and some wonderful treats and a beautiful card.... 

 I will post photos from the package a little later - along with the  PAW IT FORWARD rules so that I too can  Paw it Forward!     Thanks to all the wonderful animals at Gennasus -

This week's TRUE COLOR  is Turquoise -  an opaque, blue-to-green  color -  

It is the color of the TIFFANY GIFT BOX

this is, of course, one of mom's favorite gift boxes -  when there is a turquoise box under the tree at Christmas or peeking out of Daddys' pocket any other time - it puts a smile on mom's face!

this is a bowl of mom's-it's kinda cool.....her friend Erme gave it to her...they're always sending each other gifts -  

when Ford reintroduced the Thunderbird they did so in Turquoise -

a lot of jewelry from the Southwest is Turquoise  -  

mom has a few pieces but she's not real fond of it....but her best friend, Erme, loves the stuff  so mom buys it for her if she sees something she thinks Erme might like.  

Mom's into dragonflies, it's her totem you know,  so she found this picture of a turquoise dragonfly.

True Colours Thursday

Before I get into TRUE COLOUR - I want to ask all pups to say a special prayer for Golden Boy Luke today -  he's having surgery - and his mom is very nervous - I imagine Luke isn't too happy either.  I just hope there are no thunder storms in Houston to increase his anxiety!   We're thinking of you buddy!

Today's TRUE COLOUR is  CERISE  According to Maerz and Paul in their Dictionary of Color, the first recorded use of CERISE as a color name in English was in 1858.^[1] However, it was used at least as early as 1846 in a book of crochet patterns.^{[2]  The CERISE color name comes from the French word meaning cherry. The word "cherry" itself comes from the Norman CERISE.  So I guess CERISE is  cherry pink  cause it sure isn't DEEP RED.}

there is an azalea called "CERISE"  -  we have one -  there is probably a rose that is colored CERISE - but we don't have any of those  -  Bumble bee is an extra treat~

one of mom's favorite artists is Elisabeth Maria Becker...this is one of her original water colors, Elisabeth likes the color CERISE -  unfortunately the flash detracts but mom can't figure out how to turn the flash off -  this is one of the reasons we didn't have RAINBOW last week!

this is a Taos Sunset - also by Elisabeth Becker - with a CERISE sunset -  mom has several other Becker pieces with CERISE in them...but they are nudes and mom worried about them offending someone - one of them is mom so I think she's just too embarrassed  to put it up  - but she was young and thin and cute when it was done....so........

Mom wants to apologize to all for her rants about the X-DIL -  she said this is not the forum for it and she shouldn't have done it.  She thinks, after reading, that it all sounds like white trash drama and, of course mom is not WT! [no comment on the x-dil]  Bottom line is that the X-DIL has mental problems,  and in spite of the diagnosis of her being bi-polar the family court judge continues to allow her to do this stuff....so, we're just going to have to find a way to make the little one be happy.  We promise no more rants on her.

True Colors Thursday - RUST

Today's TRUE COLOUR is RUST - We just couldn't really come up with any rust - but mom's best friend, Erme, has a few Scottish Highlands wandering around her ranch in Austin so mom dug up some of the photos......mom loves these little critters...they're just wandering around for looks - nobody eats them!

True Colors Thursday - LIME

This week the TRUE COLOR is Lime Green - Lime green is a color between yellow and green, so named because it is a representation of the color of the citrus fruit called limes. It is the color that is half way between the web color chartreuse and yellow on the color wheel.

Lime green is approximately the most visible color on the spectrum because it is corresponds to a wavelength near the peak of the photopic luminosity function.

Lime Jell-O is the official state food of Utah and Utah is a state in the "Jell-O Belt", a term synonymous with the Mormon Corridor - NO we are not LDS or Mormon - mom is just very fond of Wikipedia!

It's True Colours Thursday again. This week's theme is SCARLET, so, play along visit our lovely hostess, Blue and we hardly think she's a "Scarlet Woman"!

Scarlet (from the Persian säqirlāt) is a red color with a hue that is somewhat toward the orange. It is a pure chroma on the color wheel. It is redder than vermilion. Scarlet O'Hara

"Nothing modest or matronly will do for this occasion!" [we think this gown is more garnet than scarlet - but we couldn't resist being southern and all]

Rhett Butler demanded Scarlett wear the gown to Ashley Wilkes' birthday party. Despite the fact that it was supposed to do nothing more than make Scarlett look like the improper woman she was, it has continued to be a fashion icon and has inspired countless reproductions.

With its feathers, rhinestones and low-cut bustline, it became a plot device within the film as Rhett sought to humiliate Scarlett by having her thrown from Melanie Wilkes' home.

Although my mom would be the one to dress like Scarlett she is definitely NOT a Scarlett - She's a Melanie all the way! [you might have to be southern to understand that one!]
