Wordless Wednesday - NOT TODAY

these Iris[es] are at least 100 years old.   Now how is that possible you ask....well, these bulbs have been in my mommy's family since around the year 1900.   That's right, they belonged to my mommy's  GREAT grandmother  and have been split, dug up, moved and hauled around to wherever my mommy has lived -  Her great grandmother gave them to her grandmother to plant in her 1st house back in 1914 -  then her grandmother gave them to her mother in 1942 to plant in her yard,  then her mother gave them to her in 1973 to plant in her yard....and my mommy has carried them with her from Memphis to Chicago to Raleigh NC, to Dallas TX, to Atlanta Ga,  to McComb MS and now to Oak Ridge TN   -   isn't that neat????

CHECK THIS OUT....a package from Mason Dixie - WOW!  I never had a package before!

that's a pretty fancy envelope that Mason Dixie Found
this one is my favorite
hmmmmmm.....these look interesting
this one makes crunchy noises
I don't know which one to choose
Now I just can't decide which one to play with!!!!!!!

  2. Those bulbs are awesome and what a great history they have - you're lucky to have such lovely flowers in your family! May they go on for another 100 years.

Checkers, sorry to hear you were feeling poorly. But what lovely gifts your friend has sent. You are most fortunate to have such good friends.

The dancing recital story - not sure I follow that too well (I'm a little slow on the uptake), but I know Livy was in the video playing with you and that looked like fun!

  3. I wish that I had a plant of my grandmothers. She gave me a couple cactus's which have grown wild @ my mothers home :) Your FLOWERS are gorgeous.... It's so great that you are able to still have them....
as for the (b word) I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY PARENTS USE THEIR CHILDREN, AND CONFUSE THEM WITH THEIR PARENTS OWN INSECURITIES AND ISSUES AND PROBLEMS. My boyfriend has 2 kids please see my other blog - http://kj1974.blogspot.com/ - there are pictures of me w/my new family - & other things...
Just try to make that little girl know that she is loved no matter what madness is around her... xoxo

  4. amazing about the bulbs! as far as this problem we have with the X, I just can't stand that poor Livy is in the middle of this. isn't there someone (her father, perhaps) who can step in and make things better? woof, tank (canine mafia is standing by and they are some scary looking dudes)

  5. This is all just so awful!!
Please tell your Mom and Dad that my Mom said a prayer for them.

I know it's probably hard for you to watch your Mom & Dad feel bad like this. Rocky & I had to watch my Mom go through lots of health worries and it did affect us. So Mason's gift couldn't come at a better time.

  7. So happy you liked the toys, was worried about sending treats and thought toys were better any how. =) Those flowers have an awesome tale and oh the journeys they have been on. Sorry to hear about Livy, that really sucks, hope it all works out in the end.

  8. Wow, great gifts Checkers!!!! That sure was a lot of stuff you got there. Too bad about Livy, that's really sad. All she wants to do is dance.

  11. Mason Dixie is the sweetest pup. We got a package from Mason too. We like that blue loofah pup but you can't go wrong with any one of those special toys.

Mom thinks Livy's dad needs to step in and get a better say about what goes on in Livy's life.

  12. We loved the story about the irises. We have a little maple tree that lived with us here in Ireland for five years, then came to Belgium for another five years - lived in a large pot - and finally got planted back here in Dublin six years ago! If we move again - it will come with us, for sure!

Poor Livy - she is really caught in the middle. No First Communion, changing schools, losing friends, not letting her dance, it must be really hard on you all. We really hope it all gets sorted.

  13. Hi Checkers!

Mason is so thoughtful! :-) She is such a great furry friend. The story about your mom's bulbs is so nice! I hope your mom is able to someday pass them on to the next generation to keep it going!

Guess what, my Mom has some Iris bulbs from her grandmother that she has moved out here to WA with us. :) She doesn't know how old hers are though but they sure are pretty when they bloom. :)
