Another Busy Day Working

Let me tell you - this work stuff is not so easy - I have to get up and have my breakfast - and I have to eat it when mom puts it down because if I don't I'm stuck all day with nothing to eat!!!! Now this morning I got a break because mom had to be at the city courthouse this morning because she is heading a group trying to get a man to donate the ALEXANDER INN - aka THE GUEST HOUSE to this revitalization program she's working on...the man who owns it Merrill Boatman has let the property run into the ground - it's a really important piece of history as it housed many of the scientists who built that AWFUL big bomb - aka the Atom Bomb - even Albert Einstein stayed there - anyway - whatever your feelings are about the bomb the building is important. The people from the Heritage Association got the city to fine him and stuff - so he had to go to court this morning and there were a whole bunch of people there in support of preservation - The man told the judge he was meeting with a potential buyer this afternoon - nobody really believes that - mainly because he's wanting over a million dollars for it and the thing is FALLING DOWN.........but next week mom and a few people who are interested in the property's salvation are going to met next - Mom has a plan that she's trying to sell everyone on - now they're trying to figure out how to buy it if the man won't donate it to the effort - Mom's been writing Op-Ed pieces in the newspaper - if you want to read them - she's done 2 so far - First one here - second one here - as you can see she's been really busy lately!!!!

Okay now - back to ME - I didn't get to go to court with her - BOO - but, I spent the rest of the day with her - when she got home she was mostly on the phone - I don't like it when she is on the phone - I really bug her a lot when she's on the phone - I bite her ankles as she walks around and I jump all over her to get her off. I don't know why I don't like her on the phone - but I don't. Then she and daddy went to the Soup Kitchen for lunch - they specialize in the MOST delicious soups and are known for their signature chili [which mom says isn't as good as here] They also make really great cheese bread - huge pieces. Mom had Hungarian Pork Goulash - she said they should have just called it Cabbage soup with pork - but it was gtood. It was raining so I didn't get to sit with them outside - I had to stay in the car. - BOO -

Then we went back home and mom did more phone calls and a lot of paperwork stuff - but I sat right next to her the whole entire time. This is me checking out our business card and making sure the info is correct - if you biggify you can see that my picture is on there with mom's!

That's about it - it's now Friday night and I am so tired from a hard week at work - Mom is bored because the only thing on TV is Teddy Kennedy's wake - while mom might agree that he was a powerful Senator and did many good things for women and minorities - she was not a fan - she met him back in 1978-79 when he was planning his run for the presidency at a fund raiser - he was a mysognistic pig according to mom - then Chappaquidich happened and that ended that dream - she doesn't want to speak ill of the dead - but she was no fan!-

Have a great weekend.

Off With Mom I Go

My mom is just the best. Again this morning she let me go with her. Yep - we left the house at 7:15 - I know, I know, that's awfully early especially form mom who rarely gets up before 8 - but we left at 7:15 to host a breakfast at the Village Vet Clinic in Knoxville. It is the most totally pawsome clinic ever. It is all female veterinarians - which mom totally loved....and it is just the neatest place. They have a spa and are building a brand new hospital. They also have pictures of doggies all around done by this really neat artist named Marna Schindler - yep you guessed it mom has already commissoned a piece from Marna of me - AND - get this - she is going to supply the clinic with a print of me to put on their wall! Cool huh?

Well - back to the visit - there were a ton of ladies in the meeting, way too many for me to count but not too many for me to visit. I spent quality time with each and every one of them. I gave them licks and kisses. I got my belly rubbed and terrific scratches behind my ears.....Believe me when I tell you those lady vets know how to treat a little guy like me.

They had a lot of questions for mom - some of them were questions that mom couldn't answer - like if a bulldog comes in and presents healthy - but we know he's probably going to have some breathing problems - will you cover that? Well, mom wasn't sure - but she found out that the answer is a very big YES!!!!!

When we finished at the Village Vet Clinic mom had another meeting with a group of retail merchants who are interested in a revitalization program here in Oak Ridge. Mom used to be a Main Street Executive Director and she knows a whole lot about revitalizing a town - trust me when I tell you that Oak Ridge could use some revitalizing. Mom has been consulting with these folks and she had a VERY long meeting with some of the property owners. Although it was long I got to wander around and smell a lot of new places. The guy who owns the building was worried that I would pee or poop in his building - Mom laughed and said - "probably not - but don't worry - we'll clean it up if he does." The guy just nodded and said ' oh, okay" - that's my mom - she has no worries about someone's carpeting - she thinks I rule the world and if I pee on their carpet - well, it's no big deal. Just so you know - I did NOT pee on their carpet !!!!

So far I haven't trained mom to take pictures of me at all of these clinics - but we're working on that - She has her I-phone so she could do it - but since she's kinda new in these clinics I guess she doesn't think it's appropriate to ask - but hey - mom's not shy so she will probably do it soon. So, for today, I'll just have to tell you about it.

Honestly, I have to think about whether I want to keep going with her. It's quite exhausting for me to get in and out of the car and to have to show off for all of these people. I mean, mom actually expects me to behave. She told me several times to sit down and stop wandering - I did sit for a few seconds - but hey, I'm a little guy who has an inquisitive mind. And, I'm cute so people really want to play with me - at least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I went out with mom today -  I was totally tuckered out when we got home so I'm not sure if going with her is such a good idea -  but it beat staying home!
